Let�s wait until tomorrow to see the outcome of the big announcement. Based on the outcome lets plan a rally around LA downtown City hall on Saturday 21st July, 2007.
I stay close to downtown and I can co-ordinate all the activities. I can do the conference call or some one among us can co-ordinate to do that.

this is surprising. really the dates should move- at least some. i keep thinking with each bulletin that EB3 will surely move now but it just has not happened. at this moment of course they have simply made it U. i wonder though if the dates will move when the october quota comes in.
is there any way, any way in this whole freakin process, that we can get some sort of explanation for eb3-I first hand from DOS or USCIS? i mean there needs to be some justification for the acts? i know there are laws to interpret these dates, but how do we know that those laws are interpreted correctly by DOS or USCIS? though i am in eb3-I , jan 2003, i personally know atleast 3 folks who are in 2002 - eb3-I. One way to increase participation is to involve the Indian student associations of the various universities of the area. They are usually pretty well organized and members are usually willing to support such causes. Also support from ISA's from top notch schools goes a long way to show the legal immigrant population as a highly educated bunch.

I suggest that you write at least two articles. First one should focus on our problems and costs involved at each stage for the current 5-7 years waiting period. A lot of guys out there against immigration do not currently know exactly how tuff it is these days to get a visa and come to US. Just imagine if somebody came to US on a student loan and was not able to get a job because of these visa problems as has started to happen over the last couple of years, how much financial burden he will have and how long it will take him to pay off these loans. explain how visa applicants are harassed buy the consulates, USCIS/DHS/DOS, lawyers, employers just because they can. Had everyone who came to US to study or work on his/her own merit been given a green card like visa as and when they wanted it, he/she would not be exploited, they would compete with any american citizen for a better pay (taking away the argument from the anti-immigrants that we are displacing the citizens by being underpaid). This I think would have taken away the argument that we are over populating the US or that we are immigrants for ever (not assimilating in the mainstream) because then we would be part of the mainstream and those who do not want to live in US forever (a significant number of people...leading to reduced immigration) could go back when they wanted. Look for all the problems we have to face on a day-to-day basis and ask whether we are asking more than some basic human rights and are we wrong in asking for these rights. Isn't it also one form of injustice when we are paying for medicare/social security without getting any benefits? Isn't it injustice when we cannot progress in our careers when we are stuck in this endless and ever increasing GC delays? Isn't it injustice when we are equated with the illegal immigrants? Isn't it injustice when we are asked to renew our status by paying ever increasing fees and endless documentation when there is no need unless one has left the country on his own and wishes to return? Does the country really need skilled immigrants and if it does why can't it allow them to live with some basic human rights and dignity. By denying the new immigrants these rights, dignity is the US promoting new-age slavery and forcing even the legal immigrants into shadows and back alleys of the society? Explore why some legal immigrants have to resort to illegal status (school going kids, family life, friends...age at which they migrate changes their social circle) when they cannot stay in status by legal means.
Once you have explored and educated your article readers about our situation, they will have a better understanding of what we are requesting the US govt is lot illegitimate and may even encourage some illegal immigrants into going the legal way.

As much as I appreciate the efforts that the IV core team has put in, them being so secretive, it is almost like they have formed a cabal.
I agree with ItIsNotFunny. The very least the IV core team can do is post updates on what they are up to. That way if someone believes in a particular initiative that IV is undertaking wants to help, they can contact the concerned IV core team member and offer to help.
I am sure instead of the core team trying to burden themselves with all the work, if they let individuals who believe in particular cause to help them, then life would be a lot easier for everyone. I guess that would also get more people involved with IV.
I know I am out of the rat race, so if you think I am being patronizing, my apologies.

I think there are many ways to look at it. Doing Free service , yes it is a form of Gandhigiri, but will that cause the lawmakers to recognize us and pass laws in favor o fus..I do not think so.
I think our situation is no different than people in South Africa in Gandhian times. How Gandhi fought for them is by writing and writing and pestering the Authorities to reduce unfair taxes on Indians in SA and to solve other problems they had like cannot ride in the same Trains/cars as Whites etc...., fighting for their rights in a Vocal but Non Voilent - non aggressive approach.
We, in this post , have equated Gandhigiri with - divide ur attention - Go Do MBA- be occupied with something else while u are retrogressed, furthur ur career/skills,,,etc I do not think that is what Gandhigiri is about i.e. doing something for the self, but instead do it for the community. In this case IV is our community and its leaders are doing the right thing for our cause and if we continue to support that by adding members, funds we will do a fair bit of gandhigiri towards our cause.

I totally agree with you on this. But I am not talking about the MTR. I am talking about the fee issues. Why do we need to pay if its their mistake. I dont think we are talking about the fee waiver with congress men's office or anyone else.
I agree. We definitely need to get some kind of process to correct "service errors" against filing MTR which is associated with a cost.
Remember MTR is basically for presenting NEW FACTS and not to correct service errors.
If members can come up with innovative ideas of correcting these issues, we can definitely do campaigns.
All we need is cooperation and help from members.
AC21 denials is clearly a service error and when one invokes AC21 the person should not be punished by slapping a denial and making him/her accrue unlawful status and forcing them to open a Motion.

Agree with you, tinamatthew, regarding H1C visa, but my emploier does not want to waist his time for this, the chanses are too slim to get one of 500 H1C..., so I decided not to mention about it.
Maybe.... , the july victory might help, I just hope they will approve my DS230 this time, because previous DS230 was out of date, and they asked to submit it again.
But it is only one case, other nurses are still in the long process with CGFNS, and VisaScreen, then I140, with the huge backlog in the Visa Center , and so on...I am not against all these procedures, I believe it is a necessity, but the long immigration process for nurses is neither fair nor correct from healthcare and economic point of view.
So I believe for the majority of foreign nurses the July VB is not helpful in anyway.
Schedule A is our only option!

...welcome to the new nightmare, someone did say something about the grass been green on the other side..now that we are on the other side we wait for 485 to be current while we renew EAD/AP each year, fingerprint every 15 months and aviod the namecheck black hole...maybe this is what they(uscis) wanted after all...a steady income stream...good luck :)

Chase, Union Savings bank, Wells Fargo & Citi. I think if the sales person(agent) talking to us is well informed about our status they will work with the underwriters to get the loan approved- since it helps on their commissions as well.

I have done a Mortgage and 2 re-fi in the past with no issues, but last time, I had issues with Bank of America, Wells Fargo and one other bank (don't remember name). The reason was being on AOS/EAD, They were fine with H1b, but did not understand what EAD / AOS is. It all depends on the underwriter and if he is not knowledgeable on the Visa issues, then you are done. You can't ask for an alternate underwriter. I was able to secure through a credit union though.
